A woodsman at home in the wild, ranging far beyond the safe borders of the hill. More of the Ranger's play happens on the party's map than on their own sheet — which is unusual, and worth knowing up front.
Your hounds are followers
Hounds (2–3 followers) is a special possession, but it doesn't land in your inventory — dogs aren't gear. They appear on your Followers tab, each with their own HP, damage die, instinct, and cost.
Name them, and pick their tags. A hound with "keen-nosed" and a temperament is a character; a row labelled "hound" is a statistic. The tags are how you tell the difference at the table, and they're a tap away on ⋯.
Animal followers can carry their own inventory. Toggle that on the follower's editor and they get a pack of their own, which doesn't count against your Load — the single most useful thing a Ranger can know about this app.
Your background's grant
- Mighty Hunter — adds Expert Tracker and Stalker to your Moves tab.
- Wide Wanderer — see the background text on your Character tab.
- Beast-Bonded — your bond with an animal; that animal belongs on the Followers tab, not in your gear.
Special possessions
You pick two, and the Ranger's list is unusually location-flavoured:
- Hounds — followers, as above
- Trapping gear — inventory
- Hideouts — not an object. Ask your GM to put them on the party's travel map as pins; that's where they're useful
- Lay of the land — knowledge, not an item. It's a claim on the map too
- Husbandry tools, Distillery
The travel map
The party's Maps tab is the Ranger's second sheet. Pins mark what's out there; your GM can hide a pin until the party reaches it and reveal it when you do. If you're the one who ranges ahead, ask them to reveal what you found — that record is the thing your class produces.
Supplies for a journey are tracked on the party side too, alongside the map. Your own Load stays on your Inventory tab.
Where things live
| Thing | Tab |
|---|---|
| Hounds, bonded beasts | Followers |
| A hound's own pack | Followers → the animal's inventory toggle |
| Trapping gear | Inventory |
| Hideouts, lay of the land | Party → Maps (as pins) |
| Expert Tracker, Stalker | Moves |
Load an animal follower before you load yourself. It's the Ranger's oldest trick and the sheet supports it properly.
